Felt and its properties

A non woven fabric

Felt is a non woven material which means it is not made up of warps and wefts but of fibers that are "mixed in" together to form a textile surface. This is why felt can be cut without fraying.

How Do i use this feature ?

I use this technical feature to provide clean-cut panels with the least hemming possible. Just a velcro on top and a weight bar on the bottom and that is all. This is one of the reasons I like felt so much.

is felt a material dating from the 20th centuary ?

This flexible material is one of the first textiles made by man kind. Its history goes back to 8000 AD.
Felt has a very mineral visual aspect and that is probably why it looks so minimal and modern.
This feature being quick rare in the textile world makes felt even more interesting to me.
